LEAF changes the community for the public.

May 15, 2026

This year LEAF is featuring blogs from our Board members and volunteers sharing why they give their time and talents in service to District 742 students. Today’s blog is from Chris Weathersby, a member of our LEAF Board.

Being part of an organization that changes the community for the public good is a positive thing in my eyes; it makes you part of something bigger than you.

Being involved in an organization can have its challenges at times, but being an active participant in an organization or a business that works with a community for the common good forms in us responsibility, obligations, and accountability to the community it claims to represent.

Non-profit organizations change people’s lives every day. I believe the LEAF organization helps change people’s lives for the better.

It is important to have the LEAF organization because we need caring, responsible people working together to help school districts raise money and create fundraising events. I am happy to be part of the LEAF organization as a board member.
