LEAF is a shining example of the greatness within the St. Cloud Community
This year LEAF is featuring blogs from our Board members and volunteers sharing why they give their time and talents in service to District 742 students. Today’s blog is from Sam Court, a member of our LEAF Board.

I believe that LEAF is a shining example of the greatness within the St. Cloud Community. In my 20 years in education I have worked across four states and in 8 different schools. I can honestly say that the St. Cloud community supports its schools like no other community that I have experienced. My family and I are proud to live in the heart of St. Cloud, and we plan to remain long-term residents of this wonderful community.
As I enter my fourth year as the Talahi Community School principal, I have seen time and again the generosity and dedication of St. Cloud as we have come together to provide opportunities and remove barriers to student belonging. I witness daily how small acts of community support create immediate, life-changing moments in our classrooms. Organizations like LEAF aren’t just funding programs; they are actively sending messages of belonging to all of our students.
I am honored to be joining LEAF’s board this year as the Elementary School Principal representative. Each and every Talahi student has benefited from LEAF’s programs whether it be PAKRAT, Adopt a Classroom, or other grants for schools.
My wife and I have three children, and as our oldest approaches middle school, I am so excited to see where his passions take him in sports and activities. I am proud of LEAF and St. Cloud for prioritizing the elimination of middle school activity fees for all students. Connected students become the balanced, well-rounded future leaders of our community.
