Precious Responsibility

Precious Responsibility - children in school activitiesThis year LEAF will feature blogs from our Board members and volunteers sharing why they give their time and talents in service to District 742 students. Today’s blog is from Marsha and Paul Shoemaker, members of LEAF’s PR Committee.

We want our community to be a place where every child and every family has access to academics and activities that open doors to sky’s-the-limit futures. LEAF and its supporters are helping to make greater St. Cloud a place where parents and neighbors help educators remove barriers and create opportunities for every student. Our nation’s founding fathers believed in investing in public education as the key to America’s future success. LEAF helps us strengthen that investment right here at home.

As volunteers with LEAF’s PR Committee we are privileged to be part of a creative team committed to keeping the community informed and excited about LEAF-supported programs that help District 742 meet a wide range of needs among its students. Those programs exist because of caring, generous believers in the tremendous impact these opportunities have on helping students learn and grow into their best lives.

We are inspired by the teachers and leaders in District 742 who are dedicated to giving all students educational opportunities that instill the confidence and love of learning that help them achieve their potential. As parents we know that access to a range of activities and relationships in and out of the classroom builds character and life skills critical to succeeding in work and life. Our children and grandchildren have been greatly influenced by involvement in music, arts, athletics and other activities that gave them a sense of belonging and wider perspective.

Each 742 student is a precious responsibility, each from a unique home environment and set of circumstances, cultural influences and abilities to learn and develop. LEAF supports innovative, effective programs tailored to help meet the challenges and enhance the individual talents of all students.
