LEAF board of directors announces “LEAF 742 Distinguished Alumni Awards”
In January of 2023, LEAF made a commitment to recognize outstanding District 742 alumni who have made the St. Cloud area their home and have had a positive impact on the community via the “LEAF 742 Distinguished Alumni Award.”
The award criteria are:
- Must be a graduate of a District 742 High School.
- Must have stayed in the St. Cloud area throughout their adult years.
- Must have had a successful career and/or made a significant contribution to the St. Cloud community.
LEAF’S first award was given to Mark Bragelman, a 1974 Apollo High School graduate, and CEO of Liberty Bank, in February of 2023. Recently, LEAF announced two more Distinguished Alumni Awards were given to Marty Heine and Wayne Schluchter.
Marty Heine is 1978 graduate of Tech High School who excelled as a student-athlete at Tech, where he is a member of the Tech Athletic Hall of Fame, and at St. Cloud State University. He was the owner of All- Star Trophy & Awards in St. Cloud for 30 years. Marty positively impacted the St. Cloud community in many ways including through his volunteer work with and contributions to the Tech High School Alumni Association, The Local Education & Activities Foundation, SCSU athletics, and other community programs.
Wayne Schluchter is also a 1978 graduate of Tech High School who excelled as a student-athlete at Tech, is a member of the Tech Athletic Hall of Fame and was an All-American football safety at North Dakota State University. Wayne has served as an Investment Executive with Dain Bosworth, CEO of Schluchter Investment Advisors, and Senior Vice President with RBC Wealth Management. He has been active in various community programs including the St. Cloud Rotary Club, the Local Education & Activities Foundation, and other community initiatives. He has been a volunteer coach with the Tech High School Football program for over twenty years.
