LEAF 742 Instructional Excellence, Kristen Dollman-Stoll
Kristen has dedicated 25 years to shaping young artists as an elementary art teacher in District 742. She began her career at Lincoln Elementary before moving to Westwood, where she has taught for the past 21 years. Her commitment to her students and her craft is truly remarkable. Kristen’s car is often the last one in the parking lot at night, and she spends many Saturdays preparing materials for the nearly 500 students in kindergarten through 5th grade who pass through her classroom each week.
Beyond her own classroom, Kristen plays a vital role in the district. She leads the art department, mentors new art teachers, and works tirelessly to showcase student artwork throughout the community. Each year, she coordinates the Vera Russell Art Show at St. Cloud State, ensuring that the creativity of District 742 students is celebrated.
What truly sets Kristen apart, however, is her extraordinary connection with her students. She knows every child by name and makes each one feel special and valued. I’ve seen this firsthand—both of my own children were fortunate enough to have Kristen as their art teacher. My son, who has never considered himself artistic, absolutely loved her class. In his words, she was his favorite teacher, not because of what he could or couldn’t create, but because her classroom was a place of encouragement, inclusion, and joy for every student, regardless of ability. And Kristen’s dedication doesn’t stop at the classroom door. Even after her students move on to middle and high school, she remembers them. She checks in on them, attends their sports games, concerts, and events, and continues to cheer them on, long after they’ve left her classroom.
Kristen is more than an educator—she is an inspiration. Though she cannot be here tonight, we celebrate her passion, dedication, and the lasting impact she has on her students and our community.
Congratulations, Kristen!
