Announcing “Dancing With Our Stars” Fundraiser for Student Activities Participation
Ayan Omar, Equity Services Director and Jesús Sandoval, Tech Assistant Principal lead the way!
The District 742 Local Education & Activities Foundation board of directors announces that two District 742 administrators will be participating in the Central MN Community Foundation Women’s Fund “Dancing With Our Stars Contest” to raise money for the LEAF Student Activities Participation Fund. This fund provides support for students who would otherwise be unable to participate due to economic challenges.
Ayan Omar, District Director of Equity Services (from Somalia) and Jesús Sandoval, a Latino Assistant Principal at Tech High School will compete with 5 other dance couples for the top prize of $15,000. The dance contest is held on June 12 at the College of St. Benedict. All funds raised by Ayan and Jesús will go toward the LEAF Student Activities Participation Fund. This fund pays for physicals, equipment & athletic clothing, as well as transportation for students who would otherwise not be able to participate in after school activities.
Winners of the dance contest are determined by the quality of their dance routine (40%) and by the amount of fundraising they have done for their cause before the competition (60%). We are confident “Our Team” of dancers will do a great job, and now we need to support their efforts! Please consider donating to help Ayan and Jesús reach their goal and bring a maximum amount of support to help students who want to participate in the educational activities programs!
