Americorps

November 15, 2018

Apply by December 10 to begin January 7, 2019

Did you know that in Minnesota 1 in 3 third graders can’t read at grade level? Or that less than 60% of our eighth graders are proficient in math? Together we can do more than change those statistics—we can change the future.

Using the people power of AmeriCorps (sometimes called the “Domestic Peace Corps”) Reading Corps & Math Corps recruit tutors to work with students who need extra help. Tutors are currently needed throughout the state at schools and preschools near you.

Great tutors come from all walks of life. Whether you’re 18 or 85, your most important qualification is a desire to help children succeed.

As a tutor, you may choose to serve 18, 25 or 35 hours a week. You’ll spend school days working 1 on 1 or in small groups with struggling students. No experience? No problem! You’ll receive training from literacy or math experts plus ongoing coaching and support to help your students build both skills and confidence!

The opportunity to make a difference begins in January 2019. As a tutor, you’ll spend six months creating success stories. While you serve, you’ll also receive benefits including:

By far, the number one benefit is knowing you are changing the future. The relationships you’ll build with students—the smiles and sense of satisfaction—all are second to none. Our tutors say they get so much more than they give!

If you have been thinking about a career change, want to be more involved in your community or are simply looking to be part of something extraordinary—we’d love to hear from you!
