LEAF Announces a Total of $37,470 in Spring 2017 Grant Awards

St. Cloud, MN – The District 742 Local Education & Activities Foundation announced the awarding of $37,470 during its spring Academic and Activities Funds granting cycle. Each year, LEAF awards supplemental funding to academic, activities, arts and athletic programming.

Teachers, coaches and advisers submit grant applications for special projects twice during the academic year. In addition, LEAF makes ticket sales grants to programs from the Night of the Stars Variety Show each spring. Grants awarded this spring included funds for diverse projects including:

Activities Fund Grants

  1. $3,062 – Tech High School Athletics Legacy Grant
  2. $1,701 – Tech High School Football Legacy Grant
  3. $1,250 – South Junior High Activities Legacy Grant
  4. $1,000 – Tech High School Boys Soccer
  5. $1,000 – Apollo/Tech/Cathedral Robotics Competition and Registration
  6. $500 – Tech Girls Track & Field Competition Uniforms
  7. $1,000 – Tech Speech Team for Program and Competition Expenses
  8. $1,000 – Apollo High School Boys Soccer Uniforms
  9. $500 – South Junior High Robotics Program supplies
  10. $1,000 – North Junior High Registration Fees for CmFPS International Competition
  11. $611 – Girls Softball Bats
  12. $450 – Elementary Academic Achievement Activities
  13. $1,250 – Flow-through to Girls Lacrosse Uniforms from J.A. Wedum Foundation
  14. $500 – Apollo Trap-Shooting Team Range Fees

  4. $1,500 – Madison Elementary Therapeutic, Multi-Sensory Room supplies
  5. $500 – Talahi Elementary Storytelling Residency for 3rd Graders
  6. $600 – Madison Elementary Standing Tables & Foam Mats for Flexible Classroom Seating Project
  7. $3,662 – Elementary/Middle School 2nd and 6th Graders to SJU Outdoor Field Trips
  8. $1,500 – Madison Elementary Maker-Space Lab
  9. $600 – Lincoln Elementary Graphic Novels for Library
  10. $325 – Tech High School One Day Guest Artist/Composer Residency
  11. $450 – Lincoln Elementary bus transportation to Minneapolis for trip to Orchestra Hall and Minnesota Institute of Art
