LEAF 742’s 2024-25 Adopt-A-Classroom Project is Successful
LEAF 742 kicked off our Adopt-A-Classroom Project at the beginning of this school year and now would like to let you know about our success!
LEAF’s goal in the Adopt a Classroom project is to connect businesses, individuals, and groups to specific classrooms to help provide needed supplies that the District is unable to fund. Supporters “adopted” a classroom (Early Education, Elementary, Junior High, or Senior High) by making a tax-deductible $250 contribution for the needed classroom supplies.
Currently, teachers often spend hundreds of dollars to provide basic supplies for classroom use. From basics such as permanent markers, pencils, notebooks, and clean clothes for elementary children, to the more specialized items like sheet music, science kits, dry ice, and mice for snake food; our teachers spend their own money to help ensure a quality educational experience.
Businesses, individuals, grandparents, or groups chose to adopt a specific classroom at a specific school or made a $250 donation to LEAF and allowed LEAF to choose a classroom randomly from those classrooms that applied for help. In all, we were able to give out 216 Adopt a Classroom grants thanks to a record $54,000 that came in from our community! Unfortunately, we were unable to make grants to the remaining 69 teachers who applied but were not randomly chosen for funding this year. (If anyone wants to donate $17,250 we would be happy to go back to those 69 teachers and fund them with your donation!)
One great Adopt a Classroom story:: Design Electric was a participant in our Adopt a Classroom program! Ms. Nikodym’s class made sure Design Electric received handmade thank-you cards to show its appreciation. (Please see the attached pictures.)
