Mick Boatz Scholarship

The Mick Boatz Scholarship was establish to honor Mr. Robert “Mick” Boatz who served as a teacher, mentor, and supporter for 50 years at Tech High School and in the District 742 community. Over his many years, Mick created an environment that allowed the most dedicated students to excel while teaching most of the math courses at Tech from Geometry and Algebra 2 to Precalculus and both AP Calculus courses. He has written his own curriculum and handwrote hundreds of worksheets to help his students better understand some of the most intimidating content in high school math. An honest, straightforward and humble influence, Mick attended as many school events as he could, led the math team to several state tournament appearances, and built relationships with his students that last long past their time at Tech. This Scholarship seeks to provide students who are on a path to build a career in teaching or math heavy subjects in honor of the legacy that Mick has left on the District 742 community.
